This Section lists the details of all the clubs and organisations in Wivenhoe for young people to join or get involved. Nearly all of these organisations rely on volunteers to help organise a programme of activities. New volunteers are always welcome!
Dance
Learn to dance
Disco, modern, freestyle – dance classes from 5 yrs upwards. Colne Bank School of Dancing at Wivenhoe Centre (click here) and Kirstie’s School of Dance at Broomgrove Infants School (click here).
Fitness

Scouting
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts
Four sections for boys aged between their sixth and eighteenth birthdays. Various fun activities with challenges, awards, opportunities to learn new skills and develop awareness. Camping, hiking, expeditions for the older boys. Meetings weekly in the Scout and Guide Hall during school terms.

Rainbow Guides,Brownies and Guides

Sailing
Wivenhoe Sailing Club Cadets
Wivenhoe Sailing Club members provide an opportunity for youngsters aged from 10 upwards to sail on Cadet nights. These are held throughout the year according to tides. Boats provided. Youngsters must be able to swim reasonably well! Current membership about 20 youngsters.

Wivenhoe Youth Football Club
Based at Broad Lane Sports Ground. Football training as well as matches. Year round activity. Current membership around 175 youngsters. For 8 – 16 year olds.

Theatre
Wivenhoe Youth Theatre
Members of the group are aged between 12 and 21. Each year the group performs a play at the Wivenhoe Centre, with the play being organised, rehearsed and performed during August. Anyone who is interested in helping can turn up. People are also required back stage and in various other capacities, it’s not just about acting!

Wivenhoe Pantomime Group
Meetings bi-weekly from September to January when the annual production takes place in the Wm Loveless Hall. The cast always includes some youngsters (minimum age 9 years). Older youngsters could help with production matters.

Wivenhoe Tennis Club Junior Section
Junior section of the Wivenhoe Tennis Club at the tennis courts, Broad Lane Sports Ground. Saturday morning sessions for young people. Just go along to find out more. Click here for more about the tennis. The tennis courts are also available for public hire via Londis. No need to be a member.
