Poetrywivenhoehas been bringing high quality poetry events to Wivenhoe for almost ten years now. We invite a wide range of nationally known poets to read, as well as local poets. There are a lot of established writers who are keen to come and perform in Wivenhoe, but we also support local writers with a space to try out their work. We have an "Out of the Hat" open mic slot for new talent.
In 2008weheld the inauguralWivenhoe Poetry Prize Competition, and published, in association with the Wivenhoe Bookshop, a collection of new poetry:poetrywivenhoe 2008Ó.Our second collection waspoetrywivenhoe 2011″. Poetrywivenhoeis a regular feature in the annualEssex Poetry Festival
Poetrywivenhoe’sstandup poetry evenings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Royal British Legion, The Quay, Wivenhoe. There is an interval bar.
