Mike Trim
Musician, composer and record producer, and most especially, a Wivenhoe resident! In the past, Mike has done a lot of TV and film music, and produced and worked with many great people in the folk and jazz scenes (Show of Hands, June Tabor, Capercaillie amongst them). Importantly now, Mike’s main project is the culmination of a lifelong dream to spend less time in the studio and more time on the road playing live. |
Together with Maldon-based musician Jono Potts (formerly of the band Bopp! and Wandering Soles), Mike has put together the Fingersmiths. Jono is a virtuosic violin and low whistle player, whilst Mike plays the guitar and sings. The third member of the Fingersmiths, Tim Short, is a percussionist from Cardiff who joins Mike and Jono on their major gigs and tours.
Mike plays regularly at the Wivenhoe Folk Club, and also on the whole North Essex folk club scene. On 11th July 2005, they will be headlining at the Colchester Arts Centre, having supported Flook there earlier in 2005. They intend performing at several folk festivals over the summer, and are working towards an album launch in October 2005. Check out their website for more info about all this.
Mike Trim is also producing an album for local Wivenhoe guitarist Tim Whitnell during the summer, 2005, having collaborated on some work with him last year.
