December 2002 – Wivenhoe’s Katy Osborne plays Wendy in Peter Pan at the Richmond Theatre from a month with Bonnie Langford as Peter Pan and Robert Powell as Captain Hook.
In John Thaxter’s Review of the Show in The Stage, he wrote:
Bonnie Langford’s elfin Peter Pan started flying at the Aldwych in the Broadway musical version a while back. Yet this super trouper remains totally believable as the boy who would not grow up, radiant with youth and joy, fearlessly doing her athletic wire work and impressively in command of her young audience.
Alan Cohen’s colourful Qdos production at the Richmond Theatre, with original music by Claire Dallison and Ian Wherry, is more pantomime than musical but it respects the JM Barrie classic with its cosy Darling nursery scene, starry night flight and the ever-present dangers of never-never land.
Jodie Jacobs’ Tinkerbell and an attractive dance team open the show with a lively London street scene. Cheeky panto veteran Mike McClean as Smee establishes the comedy with impudent gags and Captain Hook’s pirate crew are the aptly-named Acromaniacs quartet with their limber speciality.
In his third Christmas panto, Robert Powell’s Hook combines his relaxed playingstyle with splendidly boo-able villainy and there are fine contributions from Katy Osborne’s charming Wendy and Charlene Williams, making her stage debut as Tiger Lily.
